In this talk, Dr. Stefania Tutino reflected on the necessity of engaging with the history of the Society of Jesus for understanding the early modern and modern world. Interweaving an account of her own personal trajectory within Jesuit studies with more general considerations on the state of the field, she seeks to make the case for the centrality of Jesuit studies for a wide array of historical and historiographical questions.
The Institute presented Tutino with the George E. Ganss, S.J., Award in Jesuit Studies to recognize her significant scholarly contributions to the field.
